Mate cocido recipe by Snorlax

This is my 1st post in English! :)
This is mate cocido the way I make it. You may find slightly different versions. I prefer this "homemade" mate cocido to the one that you make with the little bags you buy at the supermarket ("mate cocido de saquito"). The taste is really different, in my opinion it's much superior. It resembles the normal mate more than the other, so if you're not used to drinking regular mate, you may find it too strong.

Mate cocido a la Snor

1 - In a small metal jar, boil water, approximately 1/4 lt.
2 - Add two tablespoonfuls of your favourite yerba. You may find it easier to add it when the water's still cold, but it really doesn't matter, at least not for me. Stir.
3 - When the water boils, be careful! The yerba will rise and try to go out, exactly as if it were milk. Lower the fire and stir, even blow on it, to avoid this. Let it boil for 2 minutes.
4 - Put it away from the fire (or turn it off =P) and add a trickle of cold water. This is very important, because it makes the yerba and its dust go to the bottom of the jar. Leave it aside for a couple of minutes.
5 - Strain and serve. I like it sweet, with sugar, to soften the taste.
Optional: Add milk (I like it better this way).

Drink it as if it were normal tea, with your favourite cookies, toast, cake, whatever you like.
If you find it too strong, next time try using less yerba and/or don't boil it for so long.

I hope my explanation was clear! :)
